I’ll never forget how shortly after seeing Aimee Allison deliver a rousing keynote at Craigslist Foundation’s Non-Profit Bootcamp in 2007, I was suddenly meeting with her over lunch to discuss a new personal website – I was totally star struck. But one quickly learns that Aimee is perhaps the realest human being ever; and awe quickly fades to friendship. I was fortunate to make the connection through Hayes Morehouse at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. At the time I was trying to hook up with EBC to offer volunteer tech work and Hayes was their in-house nerd. Even better than volunteer work, he offered me a consulting gig to get Aimee a new blog. We stayed in touch since that first team-up, and shortly before Obama’s inauguration she approached me with a rush project to design and build a prototype for a new social network centered around a new radio show called American Ways on Green 960 AM. Listen up for it!
Folks Pants delivered a bold, professional look & feel with a heavy use of images and room to grow for social networking inputs and outlets (Twitter feeds, Facebook CTA). Our design inspiration came from award-winning newspapers and online magazines such as good.is. The obvious choice as usual for publishing was WordPress for easy, user-friendly media management and dynamic blogging.
